A Ukrainian citizen, Viktor Syrota, has been notified of suspicion of voluntarily being elected to illegal authorities unlawfully established on the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.
This is reported on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, while in Oleshky, Syrota agreed to put forward his own candidacy to participate in the illegal elections of deputies of the «Council of Deputies of the Oleshky Municipal District of the first convocation».
As a result of the pseudo-elections on 10 September 2023, he was declared illegally elected as a deputy from the «United Russia» party.
By 10 October 2023, Syrota had begun performing the functions of a deputy of the illegal authority, and on 18 October he was included in the composition of the illegal Accounting Commission of the Council of Deputies.
Syrota regularly took part in meetings of the illegal Council of Deputies of the Oleshky Municipal District (a territorial unit introduced by the occupying authorities, analogous to a community, – MOST), in particular in a meeting no later than 2 November 2023, where organizational issues of the occupation administration were considered.
Viktor Syrota has been notified of suspicion (Part 1 of Art. 28 and Part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) for voluntarily choosing to be elected to illegal authorities on the temporarily occupied territory.
