In the territory of the Kherson region, the vast majority of residents – elderly people.
This was said on air by the deputy head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov.
According to him, older people continue to live in settlements on both the liberated right bank and the occupied left bank of the region.
“People do not want simply to leave their homes on the right bank, despite the danger of constant shelling. On the left bank, people endure humiliation and constant torture from the occupiers. Elderly people are very attached to their housing. And, of course, on the left bank, if you leave – the occupiers threaten to seize your housing. That is what keeps most people there”, – said the official.
As a reminder, as of the end of 2025 around 60 thousand people lived in Kherson. In total on the right bank of the region – about 145 thousand.
Data on the population on the left bank – are unknown, as the occupation authorities do not disclose this information.
