On December 26, 2025, on the Pokrovskyi direction, Kherson native Serhiy Savitsky died with the rank of junior sergeant. He held the position of mortar commander of a mortar section.
His wife, Iryna Savitska, reported this on Facebook, writes Suspilne.
The post says that Serhiy Savitsky was born on August 4, 1970 in Kherson. He graduated from School No. 15. Afterwards he obtained the profession of joiner at Vocational School No. 4, and before the army he worked at the state enterprise “Kherson Furniture Factory”, where he later received the qualification — master cabinetmaker of the highest, sixth grade.
Since 1989 he served in the Odesa district as a scout in an artillery regiment. After the army he returned to his native Kherson, where he continued making exclusive joinery products and restoring antique furniture. Serhiy Savitsky and his wife Iryna married in 1997; they raised a daughter, Olena.
Since the start of the full-scale war, during the occupation of Kherson, the man stayed at home. He engaged in active underground activities within the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces in the temporarily occupied city. After the de-occupation of Kherson, Serhiy joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, his wife reports.
Farewell to the serviceman is being held near Kyiv today, January 6.
