A resident of the Kherson region, Larysa Abramovych, was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for participating in an illegal referendum.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
During the period from September 23 to 27, 2022, the woman took part in conducting a pseudo-referendum on the “joining” of the Kherson region to the Russian Federation on the territory of the village of Stanislav in Kherson district. She carried out door-to-door visits of residents with a portable ballot box accompanied by armed Russian military personnel, and also urged local residents to participate in the voting, kept a record of the people who voted, and collected personal data to form voter lists.
Larysa Abramovych’s actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — participation in the organization and conduct of an illegal referendum on temporarily occupied territory.
The court sentenced her to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment with confiscation of property, and also banned her from engaging in activities related to the electoral process and referendums for a period of 10 years.
