The court found a Kherson resident guilty of state treason for adjusting Russian strikes on the city and sentenced him to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The man was exposed by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in August 2024.
This was reported by the SBU Directorate in the Kherson region.
According to the investigation, the convicted man provided Russian special services with the coordinates of at least 39 targets for strikes by aerial bombs, missiles and artillery. Among the objects the enemy struck were a city lyceum and a hospital.
As law enforcement established, the unemployed resident of Kherson was recruited because of his pro-Russian views. After receiving instructions, he walked around the city and its outskirts, marked potential targets on Google Maps and transmitted their coordinates to a handler who was located in the temporarily occupied territory (TOT) of the Kherson region.
After the Russian attacks he additionally traveled to the impact sites to document the consequences of the shelling and pass the information to the Russian side.
The court found the man guilty under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law) and sentenced him to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
It was previously reported that the appellate court upheld the verdict for the Kherson resident who adjusted strikes on the city.
