On the left bank of the Kherson region, the commander of a mortar battery serving in the occupiers’ volunteer detachment «BARS-33» (the so-called «Margelov Battalion»), Fedir Novikov, detonated a mine and sustained a severe wound.

Novikov detonated a mine on a minefield near Russian positions in the occupied part of the Kherson region. As a result of the explosion, his leg was amputated.
Before beginning his military career in 2023, Novikov, a resident of the Moscow suburbs, was engaged in entrepreneurial activity in Moscow, in particular selling socks and underwear. He is a veteran of the Russian Airborne Forces.
The unit commanded by Novikov took part in shelling settlements on the right bank of the Kherson region.
Despite the amputation, he announced his intention to return to the front after recovery.
Recall that the so-called «volunteer battalion named after Margelov» was formed in October 2022 under the oversight of the occupation administration of the Kherson region.
