Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation have charged former employee of Northern Correctional Colony No. 90 Oleksandr Yanenko, who defected to the Russian Federation.
This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, since 2017 Yanenko worked as the head of the division of the social-psychological service of the department of social-educational and psychological work at Northern Correctional Colony No. 90 in Kherson and held the special rank “senior lieutenant of the internal service”.
In May 2022, when Kherson was under Russian occupation, Yanenko agreed to cooperate with the occupation authorities and received the position of head of the detachment of the department for educational work with prisoners. At that time the colony was under the control of Russian military forces.
For this, Oleksandr Yanenko is suspected of voluntarily assuming, as a citizen of Ukraine, a position in an illegal law enforcement body (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
