The court handed down a sentence to collaborator Serhiy Zmiievskyi – the former occupation head of the village of Rakivka in Beryslavskyi district in the Kherson region.
This was disclosed in the relevant court verdict.
After the capture of part of the Kherson region by Russian forces, Zmiievskyi voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the occupation authorities. Already in March 2022 he headed the illegally created Rakivka village council of the military-civil administration of Beryslav district.
The investigation found that Zmiievskyi helped Russian forces after the occupation of the community. In particular, he passed on information about empty houses of local residents and facilitated the billeting of Russian soldiers in them. For this he was earlier also notified of a separate suspicion of aiding the aggressor state.
Also, according to the investigation, Serhiy Zmiievskyi took from the director of an educational institution in Rakivka the keys to the gym. Later the Russian army turned it into an ammunition depot.
By the court’s verdict the collaborator was found guilty under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition to 10 years imprisonment with confiscation of property, he was also banned for 15 years from holding positions in state authorities and local self-government bodies.
According to the Center for Investigative Journalism, after fleeing the Kherson region in 2022 Zmiievskyi settled in Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation. There he runs his own YouTube channel and complains about life in Russia, lack of money and problems with paperwork.
Before the full-scale war Serhiy Zmiievskyi was a deputy of the Rakivka village council and worked in the police. He was also a member of the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Kherson resident Dominika Zadorozhna was found guilty of voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement agency created in the temporarily occupied territory. The court sentenced her to 13 years imprisonment.
