The court found Ruslan Khomenko guilty of collaborationism – a resident of the Kherson region who, during the occupation, went to work for the Russians.
According to the prosecutor’s office, in 2024 Khomenko assumed the so-called post of head of the Oleshky municipal district, created by the occupation authorities on the basis of the illegal council of deputies of Oleshky.
In this position he effectively ran the occupation body: he formed the staff, appointed subordinates, coordinated their work and publicly supported the aggressor state.
The court in absentia sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment with confiscation of property. Also Khomenko was banned for 15 years from holding any positions in government bodies and structures that provide public services.
Recall, Kherson resident Larysa Abramovych was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for participating in the illegal referendum.
