In Mykolaiv, a court imposed a preventive measure on a 63-year-old resident of Kherson who is suspected of state treason. By decision of the investigating judge, the man was taken into custody without the right to post bail.
This was reported by the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.
According to the investigation, the suspect cooperated with a representative of the Russian FSB and transmitted information about the location and movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the number of military personnel and equipment. He also sent coordinates of places where, in his opinion, Ukrainian servicemen could be located – in particular near enterprises, educational and medical institutions.
In addition, the man reported on the consequences of Russian shelling.
During the court hearing, the suspect pleaded guilty. He said he agreed to cooperate because of blackmail and concern for his grandson, who lives in Russia with his mother.
According to the man, he allegedly sent data about empty locations, and he reported the results of one of the shellings only because it happened near his house.
The defense asked the court to deny the motion for arrest, citing insufficient risks; however, the court sided with the investigation. Recall, earlier we wrote that a Kherson resident who became the occupiers’ press secretary was charged with state treason.
