A trainee of the sumo department of Kherson Youth Sports Club of Physical Training No. 4, Dmytro Vashchenko, took first place at the Open Youth Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship in Estonia.
This was reported by the Department of Education of the Kherson City Council.
The competition took place on February 14 in the city of Valga. Young athletes from various sports clubs took part in the tournament.
Dmytro competed in the under-10 age category in the up to 22 kg weight class. The tournament served as a preparation stage for the new competitive season.
The athlete is coached by Anna Vashchenko, an international-class master of sports in sumo.
Earlier it was reported that athletes from Kherson region won prize places at the Ukrainian Winter Championship in throwing events.
