Kherson athletes won awards and received honors at the Ukrainian hand-to-hand combat championship held in Kyiv.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
About 600 athletes from various regions took part in the competitions. Kherson region was represented by students of the regional comprehensive youth sports school — Kateryna Ivanenko, Danylo Prokhorov and Ivan Zabolotnyi.
Kateryna Ivanenko won a bronze medal in the «light contact» category and placed fourth in «kata».
Danylo Prokhorov and Ivan Zabolotnyi were defeated by members of the national team, but gained competitive experience.
Also during the championship coach Zakhar Zhizhko was honored with a Letter of Appreciation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Recall that Kherson karate athletes won 17 medals at the Poltava championship.
