Law enforcement officers have notified Kherson resident Ihor Osipov of suspicion for collaborationist activity and the public use of prohibited communist symbols during the temporary occupation of the city.
This was reported on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, on May 9, 2022, Osipov was in the Park of Glory on Perekopska Street in Kherson during a mass event organized by the Russian occupation administration.
During the so-called event he publicly held a red flag depicting the hammer and sickle and the inscription «Communist Party… of Ukraine», which is prohibited symbolism of the communist totalitarian regime.
The event was broadcast by pro-Russian media, to which he gave an interview.
In his comment he stated that since 2014 he had been coming to lay flowers with a red flag and St. George ribbons after official state ceremonies, since it is prohibited.
To another Russia-controlled media outlet he expressed gratitude to the occupiers for organizing such a «holiday». He said that there had not been such an event for a long time.
He is charged with: part 1 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — collaborationist activity, and part 1 of article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — the public use of symbols of the communist totalitarian regime.
Earlier it was reported that the SBU had in absentia notified of suspicion 32 individuals who voluntarily switched to the side of Russia and actively participated in the activities of the illegally established authorities of the occupiers..
