A panel of judges of the Kherson City Court delivered a sentence to Kherson resident Andriy Belyayev, who transmitted intelligence data about the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Russian special services.
This is stated in the court verdict.
The investigation established that, during 2023–2024, through the Telegram messenger and anonymous accounts and chat bots created to collect coordinates of military sites, he transmitted data about the movements of military equipment of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine and information about the arrival of locomotives, after which Russian troops intensified shelling of the city.
The man not only sent coordinates but also reported on the results “strikes”, helping Russian military to adjust fire on residential neighborhoods and the city’s infrastructure.
In September 2024, Belyayev was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement. In court the man tried to justify himself “by a state of affect”. However, an examination of the mobile phone and computer refuted these words. Deleted dialogues with representatives of the Russian Federation, links to maps with markings, and numerous subscriptions to propaganda resources were found on the devices.
The court found Andriy Belyayev guilty of treason. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
