The Security Service of Ukraine announced suspicion against Kherson resident Serhii Moroz, who during the occupation of the city voluntarily sided with the enemy.
This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to law enforcement, before the full-scale invasion the man worked as a storekeeper at a warehouse, but with the arrival of Russian forces he began actively cooperating with Russian special services.
Thus, in spring 2022 he established contact with a Russian handler and agreed to help the occupiers in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.
Specifically, Moroz served as the press secretary of the occupation administration of Kherson Oblast. In addition, he provided representatives of the Russian Federation with data about a person who was part of the Kherson region’s Territorial Defense Forces. This information allowed the invaders to neutralize members of the local resistance and strengthen control over the region.
He also took part in Russian propaganda talk shows, where he spread narratives about “liberating” Kherson and justified the occupation.
For these actions, Serhii Moroz is suspected of state treason (Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Note that Moroz did not remain long in the position of press secretary. Later he became an employee of the press service of the Russian “Promsvyazbank”, then was assistant to the so-called deputy governor Kyrylo Stremousov.
After the death of Stremousov in November 2022 Moroz disappeared from the public space. And now he has reappeared as a public figure.
