Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University is starting the implementation of the international scientific project “Incubator for Sustainable Aquaculture in the Black Sea Basin (AQUABATOR)”, aimed at the development of sustainable aquafarming in the Black Sea region.
This was reported by the rector of Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University, Yurii Kyrylov, on his Facebook page.
The project will be implemented in 2025–2027 by the scientists of the Department of Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture of Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University in partnership with the Ukrainian Association of Business Support Centers, Sinop University (Turkey) and BATTI (Bulgaria).
The project’s aim is to create a synergistic model of interaction between the scientific sector and stakeholders for the innovative and sustainable development of aquaculture in the Black Sea basin.
Among the key implementation tasks:
- development of an international digital platform for exchanging experience in the field of aquaculture for experts and beginners;
- mapping of the region taking into account the potential for sustainable development of aquaculture;
- creation and launch of two smart aquafarms in Ukraine and Turkey, which will function as modern training centers demonstrating the latest technologies in the field.
The initiative is financed by the European Union under a grant program with a total budget of 1.4 million euros.
