Former deputy mayor of Kherson Roman Holovnya said that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion the now-deceased deputy mayor Anatoliy Khomenko did not take part in organizing the city’s life.
Holovnya said this in an interview with MOST media.
According to him, Khomenko appeared only after the arrival of Russian troops.
“And Khomenko was not there at all. He appeared when the Russians were already in Kherson: around March 8”, — said Holovnya.
In response to the reporter’s clarifying question about whether Khomenko was in the city council together with other officials at the end of February, the former deputy mayor answered:
“He wasn’t there. I did not see him”.
At the same time Roman Holovnya noted that during that period he was effectively handling some management issues in the city on his own, without having officially delegated powers.
“I just took it upon myself and handled it. I exchanged messages with Kolykhaiev in a messenger”, — he said.
Anatoliy Khomenko held the position of deputy mayor of Kherson from January 28 to March 17, 2022. He died suddenly in March 2022, already after the start of the occupation of Kherson.
Anatoliy Khomenko’s son Ruslan sided with the occupation authorities. At the end of last year he was sentenced in absentia to 12 years’ imprisonment for collaboration.
