The Kherson City Court has handed down a sentence to a resident of Oleshky, Viktor Ivashchenko, who during the occupation voluntarily went into service with the Russians. The former State Emergency Service (DSNS) employee was found guilty of collaborationist activity (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
The investigation established that no later than July 2024, Ivashchenko, while in occupied Oleshky, headed the 9th fire-rescue unit within the structure of the fake Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kherson region.
As a professional rescuer (in 2010–2011 he worked as a psychologist in the State Emergency Service of Ukraine), the man used his knowledge to establish the work of the occupation’s security force. Viktor Ivashchenko actively took part in meetings of the occupation administration’s commissions, publicly identified himself as the unit commander, and wore a uniform with identifying insignia of the aggressor state.
The collaborator’s guilt was confirmed by his former colleagues and classmates. They recognized Ivashchenko in photographs in propaganda Telegram channels.
The court sentenced Viktor Ivashchenko to 14 years of imprisonment. He was also deprived of the right to hold positions in government bodies for 14 years, and all his property (including the VAZ 2121 car) will be confiscated in favor of the state.
