The Kherson City Court handed down a sentence to the deputy of the occupation minister of youth policy and sports in the occupation administration of Kherson region, Serhii Rotonos.
This is stated in the court verdict.
As the investigation found, in March 2023 Rotonos agreed to carry out the duties of the pseudo‑minister of youth policy.
In this position he organized the implementation of state programs of the Russian Federation in the field of youth policy, organized and took part in sporting events, held meetings regarding bringing the documents of physical culture and sports institutions of the Kherson region into compliance with Russian legislation and increasing the number of staff, etc.
The court in absentia found Serhii Rotonos guilty under part 5 of Article 111‑1 of the Criminal Code (collaboration activity). He was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
It is known that shortly before the liberation of Kherson, in November 2022 Rotonos left for the temporarily occupied left‑bank part of the region, where he was employed by the occupation authorities.
Since 2004 he headed the municipal institution “Kherson Regional Center for Physical Health of the Population “Sport for All” of the Kherson Regional Council.
In 2016, together with Olympic champion Serhii Postrekhin, he founded the Kherson Regional Professional Union of Physical Culture and Sports “Start”.
In 2017 Rotonos became a co‑founder of the public organization “Sport for All.info”.
In 2019 he became an adviser to the former head of the Kherson Regional Council, the person who ordered the murder of Kateryna Handziuk, Vladyslav Manger.
