The Odesa District Administrative Court dismissed the lawsuit of the former head of a department of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Oleksiy Kud, who demanded reinstatement.
This was revealed by the court decision that came into the possession of the MOST editorial office.
The court decision became the final confirmation of the legality of the order dismissing Kud, which occurred amid a high-profile scandal related to searches in the case of a $4,500 bribe for the “protection” of the drug business.
Recall, at the end of July this year investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) together with the SBU conducted a special operation in the territory of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. During the operation, six searches were conducted on employees of the Strategic Investigations Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kherson region, the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police and the regional prosecutor’s office.
During the searches, operatives, investigators, and prosecutors were searched for money that was part of the bribe.
After the searches, Oleksiy Kud was dismissed from the position of head of the department of procedural supervision in the conduct of pre-trial investigations by territorial police bodies and the support of public prosecution of the regional prosecutor’s office, because, according to available information, the very money was found on him.
However, he did not agree with his dismissal and filed a lawsuit. Kud demanded that the order of the head of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office dismissing him be declared illegal and annulled, to reinstate him in the position and to return his average earnings for the period of enforced absence from work.
The court fully denied these claims.
It should be noted that after the dismissal Oleksiy Kud filed a declaration, in which he indicated that he is applying for a position at the National Anti‑Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
