Kherson City Court handed down a sentence to former Kherson police officer Volodymyr Trepetin, who switched to the occupiers’ side and took a job with them.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
As the investigation found, in March 2022 Trepetin began cooperating with the occupation authorities of Kherson and obtained a position in the so-called Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kherson Oblast.
In May of the same year he became the acting senior operative officer of the crime detection department of the occupation’s criminal investigation directorate, and later — senior operative officer of the crime detection department, with the special rank of senior lieutenant of police.
After the de-occupation of the right bank of the Kherson region, Ukrainian law enforcement carried out searches in the building where the so-called Ministry of Internal Affairs was located. There they found lists of employees, among them Trepetin, a document containing an application for employment, and an order appointing him.
Interviewed witnesses also confirmed Trepetin’s cooperation with the occupiers. One witness said that she herself worked in the personnel unit of the so-called ministry and was involved in vetting and appointing employees. She knew the defendant even before the full-scale invasion as an investigator of the Ukrainian police, and during the occupation she personally met him in Kherson. According to her, he arrived at the occupation’s forensic-expert center in a vehicle marked “police”, submitted documents to carry out expert examinations, and himself confirmed that he worked in the administration of the occupation ministry.
The court in absentia found Volodymyr Trepetin guilty of collaborationist activity (part 7 of art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment without confiscation of property.
Earlier it was reported that the occupation head Agayman in the Kherson region was convicted of collaborationism and of involvement in the kidnapping of a student.
