Yesterday the Kherson City Court delivered a verdict against the former head of the city Department of Health, Svitlana Mezheritska. She will spend 7 years in prison, although the prosecutor asked for 10.
Sources in the court told MOST about this.
The court found that during the occupation of Kherson, Mezheritska worked in the city’s illegal administration under a pseudonym, signed administrative documents and organized the operation of medical institutions according to Russian standards.
Prosecutors did not prove the presence of self-interested motives, so her property was not confiscated.
According to the investigation, she began cooperating with the Russians in the summer of 2022, when she was appointed head of the occupation health administration of the Department of Social Policy.
The arrest of Svitlana Mezheritska was reported in March 2024.
Note that earlier she was the chief physician of the Kherson Dermatovenerologic Polyclinic and held positions in the city government.
Thus, in 2010 she was elected to the city council from the Communist Party of Ukraine, in 2012 she became the head of the Department of Health. In 2015 and 2020 she ran for the city and regional councils from the party “Our Land”.
She has always been close to the current first deputy head of the occupation government of Kherson Oblast Vitaliy Bulyuk.
