The court issued a verdict against Yuliia Zemlyana, a native of Nova Kakhovka, for voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement body created on temporarily occupied territory (part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). She was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
In early summer 2022, while in occupied Kherson, Zemlyana agreed to an offer from representatives of the invaders and, no later than August 5, voluntarily assumed the position of chief of staff of the occupation Ministry of Internal Affairs for the so-called Novokakhovka municipal district. Prior to that, since June 2022, she had performed the duties of a staff specialist at the Novokakhovka City Police Department of the occupation Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kherson region.
In addition to 14 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property (including a seized share of an apartment), Yuliia Zemlyana was deprived of the right to hold positions in state authorities, local self-government and law enforcement agencies for 14 years.
