Environmental losses of the nature reserve fund of the Kherson region due to Russian aggression exceeded UAH 845 billion.
This was reported by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District.
According to the inspectorate, from 24 February 2022 until the beginning of December 2025, hostilities and occupation caused significant damage to the region’s protected areas.
Overall, the war affected more than a third of Ukraine’s nature reserve fund. 393 nature reserve fund sites were struck, as well as territories of the Emerald Network.
The eco-inspectorate also notes that 1,426 objects of Ukraine’s nature reserve fund were affected by Russian aggression, which is about 16.5% of their total number.
It was previously reported that the aquatic ecosystems of Kherson lost UAH 1.3 billion due to the Russian invasion.
