The son of farmer Oleksandr Hordiienko, who died from a strike by a Russian drone in September 2025, Viktor appealed to the head of the Kherson OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin, asking to strengthen the protection of frontline villages in the Beryslav district with electronic warfare systems and interceptor drones.
He wrote this in his comment under Prokudin’s post on Facebook.
According to Viktor Hordiienko, residents of the villages Shliakhove, Urozhayne, Taras Shevchenko and Rakivka have become hostages of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. The occupiers’ drones fly over the villages “in swarms”, which is why people do not leave their homes for two months at a time.
According to him, Russian forces attack private houses as soon as they see smoke from stove chimneys. Residents are even afraid to heat their homes.
“I personally experienced 29 drone attacks. I was saved only by my father’s electronic warfare device, and it was not industrial, but ordinary,” — Viktor said.
The agricultural sector is also under threat. Farmers sowed more than 20 thousand hectares of winter crops (wheat, rapeseed, peas, barley) and took out loans worth millions, but now cannot go out into the fields. Workers are not even able to get to their workplaces due to targeted hunting by enemy UAVs, writes Viktor Hordiienko.
In his view, the existing electronic warfare means (in particular in Urozhayne) are too weak and operate unreliably. He proposes installing industrial EW systems, which, according to his calculations, would solve the problem of enemy attacks by 80–90% and provide interceptor drones to combat Russian reconnaissance and strike UAVs.
“Mr. Oleksandr, with all respect and hope we ask for help before it’s too late. Because today I appeal to you, and tomorrow I may not be able to,” — the farmer summed up.
Recall that Oleksandr Hordiienko died on September 5, 2025 while working in the field due to an attack by a Russian drone.
Since 1998 he had headed the farming enterprise “Hordiienko” in the Beryslav district. He was also the head of the Association of Farmers of Kherson Oblast and a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council from Ihor Kolykhaiev’s party “We Live Here”.
Earlier we wrote about Oleksandr in our report, where he described how he personally shoots down Russian drones.
In November 2025 Oleksandr Hordiienko was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
