The State Duma of Russia approved deputy Yana Lantratova for the post of Commissioner for Human Rights. She will replace Tatyana Moskalkova, whose ten-year term of office ended at the end of April.
This was reported by pro-Kremlin media.
Yana Lantratova heads the State Duma committee on the development of civil society. In April her candidacy was also supported by the faction “United Russia”.
Notably, at the beginning of her career Lantratova became known for participating in so-called “pedophile hunting” campaigns.
According to Ukrainian media, Lantratova appears in materials concerning the illegal deportation of children from the Kherson regional children’s home in 2022.
Among the transported children — Illia Vashchenko and Margarita Prokopenko. They were first taken to Moscow, after which they were handed over to the family of Russian politician Sergey Mironov and his wife Inna Varlamova.
Later Illia Vashchenko disappeared from that location; his whereabouts are unknown.
According to Ukrainian law enforcement, Lantratova, together with other Russian officials and representatives of the occupation administration, participated in organizing and escorting the deportation of children.
In 2024 the Security Service of Ukraine notified her of suspicion. According to the SBU, she may be implicated in the illegal removal of dozens of children from the Kherson region to Crimea and Russia.
