The Beryslav District Prosecutor’s Office secured the return to state ownership of a land plot of 5.2 ha that belongs to the territory of the National Nature Park «Kam’yanska Sich».
This was reported on the page of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2020, by a decision of the State GeoCadastre this plot was illegally removed from the reserve fund. Its status was changed to “lands for agricultural use” and it was transferred into the communal ownership of the Mylivska Village Council.
In fact, the protected area, which has special value, was mistakenly equated to ordinary fields for farming.
Prosecutors filed a lawsuit to challenge this decision and restore the legal status of the lands. The court fully granted the claim.
As of today, the community’s right to this land has already been officially terminated in the State Register. The plot has been returned to state ownership for use by the park for its intended purpose.
The NNP «Kam’yanska Sich» was created in 2019 to protect the unique steppes along the Dnipro. It is an area with rare species of plants and animals that has great scientific and ecological significance.
As of 2024, the amount of damage caused by the actions of the Russian army in the NNP «Kamʼyanska Sich» was estimated at over UAH 4.9 billion.
