The State Bureau of Investigation has notified a former employee of Northern Correctional Colony No. 90 of suspicion, who during the temporary occupation of Kherson voluntarily took a position in an illegal law enforcement body created by the occupation administration of the Russian Federation.
This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in May 2022 Ukrainian citizen Kostiantyn Komarov, at his own request, was appointed to the position of junior inspector of the 1st category of the security department of the so‑called “Northern Correctional Colony No. 90”, controlled by the occupation authorities of the Russian Federation. He held this position until the de‑occupation of the city on November 11, 2022.
It was also established that, since November 2021, Komarov had held the position of junior inspector of the security department of the state institution “Northern Correctional Colony No. 90” of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, with the rank of senior sergeant of the internal service. As of the beginning of the full‑scale invasion, he was an active certified employee of a law enforcement agency.
Investigators believe that, while on temporarily occupied territory, the suspect voluntarily joined the enemy and contributed to the establishment and functioning of the law enforcement system of the occupation authorities of the Russian Federation, thereby harming the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of Ukraine.
He is charged with treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement body on temporarily occupied territory (Part 7 of Article 111‑1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier we wrote that the SBI notified Mykhailo Shypilov of suspicion, who during the occupation of Kherson voluntarily took a position in Detention Center No. 1 of the Department of the Penitentiary Service for Kherson Oblast, created by the occupation authorities of the Russian Federation.
