The State Bureau of Investigation has notified the head and two employees of the Strategic Investigations Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kherson region of suspicion. The investigation concerns the exposure of a scheme “cover-up” of the drug business.
MOST learned this from its own sources in law enforcement agencies.
It is known that on January 15 a suspicion was announced to the head of the 2nd division of the Strategic Investigations Department in Kherson region, police lieutenant colonel Oleksandr Pryveda. He is accused of a number of serious crimes, including organizing criminal activity as part of an organized group, illegal handling of weapons, illegal circulation of narcotic substances, unauthorized interference with the operation of technical means, as well as receiving illicit benefit.
Suspicion was also notified to the senior operative officer for particularly important cases of the 2nd division of the Strategic Investigations Department, police major Maksym Shevchenko. He is accused of organizing crimes as part of an organized group, illegal handling of weapons, illegal circulation of drugs and taking a bribe.
The third suspect was the senior operative officer of the 2nd division of the Strategic Investigations Department, police captain Kostiantyn Pohozhyi. He is suspected of complicity in crimes committed by an organized group, illegal use of special technical means and receiving unlawful benefit.
According to law enforcement, the suspected policemen were not detained.
Recall that in July 2025 the DBR together with the SBU carried out a large-scale special operation in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, during which searches were conducted at employees of the police and the prosecutor’s office.
Investigators believe that the group of law enforcement officers received bribes over a long period, in particular for not initiating criminal proceedings in cases related to the illegal circulation of drugs.
Also involved in this case is the former head of a department of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office Oleksiy Kud, who was dismissed from his position after money intended as a bribe was found on him.
The investigation in the case continues.
