Law enforcement officers have informed Ukrainian citizen Valeriy Prokhorov of suspicion, who during the occupation of Kherson voluntarily took a position in illegal law enforcement bodies created by the occupying authorities.
This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The investigation found that on May 31, 2022, Prokhorov was appointed to the position of junior inspector, 1st category, of the supervision group of the security department of the occupation-run «Northern Correctional Colony No. 90».
The basis for the appointment was his personal application for acceptance into service. He held the pseudo-position until the de-occupation of the city on November 11, 2022.
The investigation found that in 2010 Valeriy Prokhorov began service in the DKVS.
Since 2018, he held the position of deputy duty assistant to the head of the detention facility at the «Northern Correctional Colony No. 90» with the special rank of senior warrant officer of the internal service.
According to the investigation, by switching to the side of the occupying authorities, he violated his oath and contributed to the creation and functioning of illegal law enforcement structures of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territory.
Prokhorov is accused under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 7 of Art. 111-1 – voluntary taking of a position in illegal law enforcement bodies on occupied territory;
- Part 2 of Art. 111 – state treason, committed under martial law by switching to the enemy’s side.
Recall, in recent days law enforcement officers informed Aliona Pidlypna of suspicion, who participated in organizing the illegal referendum in the Kherson region.
