Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine Ilona Prokopevniuk won the gold medal at the National Freestyle Wrestling Championship, which took place on 9–11 June 2026 in Khmelnytskyi.
This was reported by Volodymyr Litvinov, head of the Beryslav District Military Administration.
The athlete won in the weight category up to 62 kg. This success became her fourth championship title at the Ukrainian championships. Previously the wrestler had won the national title in 2018, 2022 and 2023.
This year’s championship gathered the strongest freestyle wrestlers from across the country. 250 athletes competed for the medals — 170 men and 80 women, representing 21 regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv.
The results of the championship will form the basis for selecting the composition of the Ukrainian national team.
Recall that the students of Kherson children’s and youth physical training clubs No. 4 and No. 5 won 11 awards at the All-Ukrainian Open “Cup of Commonwealth” in contact karate.
