Law enforcement authorities have, in absentia, announced suspicions against four members of occupying structures who were involved in the cruel treatment of civilians during the occupation of Kherson. Among the suspects are an FSB officer of the Russian Federation and three pseudo-police officers.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to investigators, they supported the occupation regime, participated in arrests, illegal detention and interrogations of civilians in one of the seized police stations.
It has been established that at least three people were harmed by their actions.
One of the victims was held in the lobby of the seized police building for two days with handcuffs constantly fastened. He was regularly taken to “interrogations,” during which he was beaten with batons and kicked, being forced to sign a document of “no claims” regarding the theft of property.
Another man was illegally detained for almost two months. During interrogations he was forced to provide information about the property of state institutions, subjected to physical pressure and humiliation.
Another detainee was forced to confess to theft — he was beaten and subjected to a mock execution. After signing the “confession” the man was released.
All the suspects are charged with cruel treatment of the civilian population and violations of the laws and customs of war, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons (part 2 of art. 28, part 1 of art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Two of them are also charged with holding positions in illegal law enforcement bodies (part 7 of art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier it was reported that the Kherson City Court found in absentia the native of Feodosiya, marine of the Russian army Dmytro Nesterov guilty of treason, participation in Russia’s full-scale aggression and the killings of civilians on the territory of Kherson Oblast. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
