On the night of November 27, as a result of another Russian shelling in Kherson, the building of the city planetarium was destroyed. The object was located in a structure from 1780, which historically was the Staro-Mykolaiv Synagogue.
This was reported by the chair of the board of the Kherson City Community Foundation “Zakhyst”, Larysa Polska.
After World War II the building was used as a sports hall and a House of Sanitary Culture, and from 1960 it housed a planetarium — the only one in southern Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as a result of the strike the building sustained critical damage.
Note that, according to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, 1528 cultural heritage sites in Ukraine have been affected by the war, of which in Kherson region – 289.
