The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has delivered a verdict in the case of Kherson law-enforcement collaborator Artem Polishchuk. For voluntarily serving on the side of the occupiers he was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment.
This is stated in the corresponding court verdict.
Before the full-scale invasion the man worked in Temporary Detention Center No. 1 of the city of Kherson. After the city’s occupation he did not leave and began to cooperate with the Russians.
In court a witness (a former internal security official of Kherson region) said that he met Polishchuk in March 2022 on Suvorov Street. At that time Polishchuk admitted that he was “considering it”, because the occupiers were offering a high salary. Later he called a colleague and reported that he had made his choice in favor of the Russian Federation, since he had been offered 75,000 rubles, an apartment and “not much work”.
From May 10 to December 14, 2022 Polishchuk officially held the position of “duty officer of the temporary detention center” in the illegal main directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kherson region. The occupiers conferred on him the rank of “police captain”.
The court found Artem Polishchuk guilty of committing the crime provided for in part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement body). His property was also confiscated – in particular, the Renault Clio and the “Lider” trailer.
According to IRS-Pivden, Artem Polishchuk’s wife Bohdana Polishchuk in 2022 became the occupation-appointed head of the village of Tomyna Balka. And his mother Inna Polishchuk, the director of the Tomynobalkivska gymnasium, headed an illegally created school there as well. For this crime Inna Polishchuk was handed a verdict for collaborationist activities – 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
