37-year-old Ihor Bil from the settlement Boikivske of Kalmiuskyi district in Donetsk region was found guilty in absentia of treason and collaborationist activity. The corresponding verdict was delivered by the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv on November 27.
This became known from the court’s verdict, writes journalist Oleh Baturyn.
As the court established, Ihor Bil, born in 1988, voluntarily joined the illegal armed formation “People’s Militia” of the DPR and took part in hostilities against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was stationed at positions in Henichesk district of Kherson region (village Salkove), in a number of populated localities of Zaporizhzhia region — Urozhayne, Prymorske, Volodymyrivka, Pryazovske, Stepne, Vysoke, the urban-type settlement Yakymivka, and also in Novoazovsk in Donetsk region.
According to the investigation materials, Bil held the position of a grenade launcher operator in the anti-tank platoon of the 4th rifle battalion of the 129th regiment (military unit 12961) of the so-called People’s Militia of the DPR, which is part of the Russian Federation’s armed formations.
Two prisoner-of-war witnesses identified Bil and gave testimony about his participation in hostilities.
The court qualified his actions under Part 2 of Article 111 (treason) and Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaborationist activity). The sentence is 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
