The Sosnivskyi District Court of Cherkasy handed down a sentence to a native of Zaporizhia region, Yevhen Yurchenko, who fought against Ukraine.
This is stated in the court verdict.
Investigators found that in May 2023 Yurchenko voluntarily joined the so-called sabotage and reconnaissance brigade “Dnipro” of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, which the occupiers created in the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.
Yurchenko received the call-sign “Goga” and took direct part in fighting against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The militant’s guilt was confirmed by his own social media and interviews with Russian propagandists, where he boasted about serving in the Russian army.
Also, an acquaintance from Kherson provided testimony against him — he recognized Yurchenko in a photo in military uniform and spoke about their correspondence, in which he described his service in the Russian Armed Forces.
Having examined the evidence, the court in absentia found Yevhen Yurchenko guilty of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
Earlier we wrote that the Russians softened the sentence for a militant, involved in abductions of people in the Kherson region.
