Russia may give up further territorial claims in the Kherson Oblast as part of a potential peace agreement with Ukraine.
The American publication Bloomberg reports this, citing sources close to the negotiation process.
According to them, Moscow is prepared not to insist on additional demands regarding the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. However, such a position is possible only if Ukraine agrees to withdraw troops from the Donetsk Oblast.
In addition, Moscow would agree to monitoring of the ceasefire regime with US participation, but would not accept the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine, the article says.
It is noted that Russian officials believe there is no point in continuing peace talks with Ukraine if Kyiv is not willing to cede territory in order to reach an agreement.
The outlet’s interlocutors believe that the next round of negotiations, scheduled to take place on March 4-5, will be decisive.
