Based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine, the court in absentia found a resident of the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region guilty of state treason and collaborationist activities. He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The press service of the SBU in Cherkasy region reports this.
According to the investigation, in September 2023 the man voluntarily joined the regional branch of the pro-Kremlin party «United Russia» and became involved in the activities of the occupation administration on the left bank of Kherson region.
Investigators established that he also called for the “joining” of the southern region to the Russian Federation. In addition, he headed the occupiers’ created “Holoprystanske Forestry and Hunting Enterprise,” where he exercised control over the forest fund in the interests of the aggressor state.
According to the SBU, the convicted man also arranged accommodation for Russian servicemen in abandoned houses of local residents who had left the occupied territory, organized food for them, and handed over official vehicles for the use of the invaders.
The court found him guilty under part 2 of Article 111 (state treason committed under martial law) and parts 5 and 7 of Article 111-1 (collaborationist activity) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition to imprisonment and confiscation of property, the man was deprived of the right to hold positions in state authorities and local self-government for 15 years.
At present, the convicted man is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory.
Recall, the court in absentia sentenced the organizer of a pseudo-referendum in a village in Kherson region to 10 years in prison.
