In Kakhovka, the well-known local historian, educator, and museum worker Alla Yablonska has died. She was due to turn 84 in the spring.

Alla Yablonska was born on April 14, 1942, in the village of Sablukivka in Beryslav Raion. She graduated from the Beryslav Pedagogical College and the Kherson State Pedagogical Institute as a teacher of Russian language and literature. She worked as a teacher, a research associate at the Kakhovka Museum of History, and the executive secretary of the city-district organization of the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments.
From 1991 to 2017 she headed historical and local lore clubs at the Center for Children’s Creativity of the Kakhovka City Council. She was the initiator of the creation of four museums: the people’s museum of the history of the village of Malokakhovka (1989), the “History of Kakhovshchyna” museum at the Center for Children’s Creativity (1996), the history museum of Kakhovka Secondary School No. 4 (2007), and the “Museum of Bread Preservation” at the JSC “Kakhovka Grain Receiving Enterprise” (2010).
Alla Mykolaivna was the author and editor of a number of local history publications, including “Memory”, “The High Brow of the Dean”, “Immortal Memory”, “Sweet Wormwood”, “Kakhovshchyna — My Love”, “The Mystery of the Name of the City Kakhovka”, “Oh Dnipro, Dnipro…”, “Cherry Blossom” and others. She was published in the scientific collection “Southern Archive” of Kherson State University, and for over 40 years was a freelance correspondent for the newspaper “Kakhovska Zorya”.
She was an honorary member of the All-Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments and, since 2013, a member of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine. For her many years of work she was honored with certificates and letters of appreciation by regional authorities, and in 2019 became a laureate of the Academician Petro Tronko Prize of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine for her contribution to museum and monument-protection work.
