The occupiers in the reserve “Askania-Nova” are feeding rare animals with hay scattered together with viscose twine, which leads to the death of ungulates.
This is evidenced by the results of satellite image monitoring and scientists’ data, writes Suspilne.
“They (the occupiers, – MOST) scattered bales of hay along the excursion road. Moreover, the viscose twine remained on the bales. This is death for ungulate animals. Now such rare species as the saiga and the Turkmen kulan are suffering. I have already been informed about the saiga that its numbers have decreased threefold compared to the pre-occupation period. We had about 700 individuals by the autumn of 2021”, — said the head of the laboratory of the biosphere reserve “Askania-Nova” Viktor Havrylenko.
Recall, the territory of the biosphere reserve “Askania-Nova” has been occupied since 24 February 2022. In December 2024 the Russians registered it under their legislation.
At the end of April 2024, information appeared that the reserve is in a critical condition.
The legitimate leadership of the biosphere reserve “Askania-Nova” confirmed the facts of the removal of the animal collection, red-listed losses of vegetation and animal deaths as a result of panic.
