A Kherson resident who facilitated the Russian Federation’s forced passportization was given 5 years in prison.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The woman was found guilty of collaborationist activities (part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Prosecutors proved that in the summer of 2022, during the temporary occupation of Kherson, she cooperated with the occupying authorities. The defendant was employed at the illegally created office of the Federal Migration Service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kherson region.
“While serving as the so-called specialist of the passport and visa service department of the public security directorate, the woman followed the instructions of representatives of the aggressor state and effectively aided the forced passportization of the city’s residents. She issued address certificates, translated Ukrainian passports and other documents into Russian for the subsequent obtaining of Russian passports, and also conducted identification of persons who had lost their documents for the purpose of issuing temporary IDs. For these actions she received a monthly reward — from 50 to 70 thousand Russian rubles”, – the post says.
The defendant fully admitted guilt and cooperated with the investigation – she was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment. The Kherson resident was also deprived of the right to hold positions in law enforcement agencies for 12 years.
