The Zavodskyi District Court of Kamianske found Viktor Shykitka, a resident of the village of Novotroitske who fought on the side of the Russian Federation, guilty of treason.
This is stated in the court verdict.
According to the investigation, in April 2025 Shykitka went to the occupying military enlistment office in Kalanchak and signed a one-year contract with the armed forces of the Russian Federation. He was given the rank of private, issued a uniform and weapons, and sent to a training ground.
In August 2025 the man was sent to storm positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donetsk region, and in August he was taken prisoner.
In court the man pleaded guilty and explained that he went to serve because of debts for alimony payments. According to him, the occupiers promised to pay about 170 thousand rubles per month.
The court found him guilty of collaborationist activities and treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
Previously it was reported that the court handed down a verdict to the owner of a base in Zaliznyi Port who tried to transfer property to the occupiers.
