Russian forces have stepped up the use of drones for remote mining of the right bank of the Kherson region. At the same time, reports that the Kherson — Mykolaiv highway is currently completely covered with anti-personnel mines are exaggerated.
This was reported to Suspilne by the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
According to him, reports of the total mining of the road are not confirmed by either the military or the police. However, he emphasized that the practice of dropping anti-personnel mines from drones directly onto residential neighborhoods of Kherson does indeed exist and such incidents are being recorded increasingly often.
Note that earlier media and social networks circulated reports that the occupiers are using Molniya-type drones to drop mines and metal spikes on logistic routes, which allegedly paralyzed civilian traffic between Kherson and Mykolaiv.
According to law enforcement, the danger of remote mining has now spread to a larger part of the regional center. Whereas previously so-called “petal” mines were found mainly in the Dniprovskyi district, they are now also being discovered in central Kherson and in the Korabelnyi district. Russian forces are concealing explosive devices by dropping them from drones onto streets and sidewalks, which poses a serious threat to civilians.
Note that on February 17 in Kherson Russian anti-personnel mines were discovered at the intersection of Beryslav Highway and Myru Street.
