Last year, in the territory of the Kherson community, the construction of three new anti-radiation shelters on the premises of educational institutions was officially suspended.
This is stated in the report on the implementation in 2025 of the measures of the Comprehensive Recovery Program for the territory of the Kherson City Territorial Community.
As stated in the document, the construction was stopped due to the escalation of the security situation.
At the time the work was stopped, the total amount of construction completed at these sites had already exceeded UAH 72 million. Their readiness ranged from 9% to 36%.
It should be noted that this may refer to three anti-radiation shelters in Kherson that began to be built in the autumn of 2024.
Since July last year, Kherson police have been investigating possible abuses in the construction of all three shelters on school grounds.
At the end of last year, the head of the Kherson OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin, said in an interview with MOST, that “the “underground schools” in Kherson were improperly built from the very beginning – they lacked several layers of rebar and concrete.
In addition, the MVA suggests that in the future the foundations of these objects will be dismantled.
