Velykooleksandrivskyi District Court delivered a verdict against the deputy head of the emergency services on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, Borys Patyk.
This is stated on the EDRSR website.
As the investigation established, in September 2022 Patyk voluntarily decided to take the position of deputy head (head of unit) of the Skadovsk district division of the Kherson region of the occupation-established Service for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations, which the Russians created in the building of State Fire and Rescue Unit No. 16 in Skadovsk.
In this position he performed organizational and managerial and administrative-economic functions, ensured the operation of the occupation institution using the property of the fire-rescue unit, and also conducted personnel selection among residents of Skadovsk district.
At the trial, one of the witnesses said that approximately a month to a month and a half after the start of the full-scale invasion Patyk began informing the employees of the fire-rescue unit that Russia would be here and that he would remain working, and also expressed his intention to be the chief and not to leave for the Ukrainian-controlled territory.
In addition, the witness said that at the beginning of April 2022 he saw Patyk hand over to representatives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation official documentation containing personal data of the personnel of the fire-rescue unit, and also, according to him, equipment was taken from the territory of the unit, including the unit chief’s computer and the dispatcher computer, on which official documentation and employees’ personal data could have been stored.
The witness also indicated that Patyk set a condition for employees regarding continued work during the occupation and stated that in case of refusal he would recruit new staff.
For these actions Borys Patyk was found guilty in absentia of collaborationist activity. He was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
