In the Kherson region, a former correctional colony employee who collaborated with the occupiers has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports this.
The court found the former head of the duty shift of one of the departments of the Dar’ivska correctional colony guilty of state treason and collaborationist activity (Part 2 of Art. 111, Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The man was also deprived of the right to hold positions in law enforcement agencies for 15 years and of his special rank.
During the temporary occupation of the Kherson region, the accused voluntarily went over to the enemy’s side and agreed to work «junior inspector of the supervision group» in the illegally created «Northern Correctional Colony of the Department of the Penitentiary Service for the Kherson Region».
In this position he performed functions related to the supervision and detention of people, conducted regime checks, inspections and searches. The facility held not only convicts but also Ukrainian citizens who opposed the occupation authorities.
After Kherson was liberated, the man went to Vinnytsia Oblast, where he obtained internally displaced person (IDP) status. In 2023, he was detained by law enforcement.
Recall, law enforcement announced suspicion against a Kherson resident who helped the occupiers carry out a sham referendum.
