A solar power plant (SPP) has started operating in the Kherson region as part of a project to reconstruct water supply systems.
This was reported by the non-governmental organization “Ecoclub”.
The main objective of installing the SPP is to maintain uninterrupted operation of the water intake well, which is critically important for the stable provision of services to the population. The station has a capacity of 13.2 kW and is equipped with batteries with a capacity of 15.36 kWh. The system is expected to generate over 15.9 thousand kWh per year.
In addition to installing solar panels, the project included a major overhaul of the water supply network.
The project is implemented by the Agency for International Cooperation of the Association of Municipalities of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (VNG International) in partnership with the Association of Ukrainian Cities and the NGO “Ecoclub”. Funding is provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands under the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF) program, aimed at the sustainable restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure.
It should be noted that before the full-scale Russian invasion, about 80 large industrial solar power plants operated in the Kherson region.
