Novovorontsovskyi District Court delivered a verdict to the liquidated Novokakhovka collaborator Volodymyr Leontiev.
This is reported on the EDRSR website.
As the investigation established, in September 2023 Leontiev voluntarily took part in holding illegal elections in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson Oblast and became a deputy of the so‑called council of deputies of the municipal district of the city of Nova Kakhovka from the party “United Russia”. He was later elected chair of that council.
Leontiev also took part in propaganda videos, urging people to attend the sham elections.
For these crimes the court in absentia found Volodymyr Leontiev guilty of collaborationist activity (part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
Leontiev had a garden house, two plots of land and two cars confiscated.
Recall, in March 2022 Volodymyr Leontiev gave the order to Russian soldiers to abduct and torture the mayor of Beryslav, Oleksandr Shapovalov, for which Leontiev was sentenced to 15 years.
In April 2022 he received a notice of suspicion of collaborationist activity. In the summer of the same year he was notified of suspicion of involvement in the abduction of journalist Oleh Baturin.
In 2024 Leontiev was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment for the illegal detention of a journalist of the Kakhovka newspaper, the mayor of Tavriisk and the secretary of the Novokakhovka city council.
On October 1, 2025 Leontiev was blown up using an explosive device by members of the Resistance Movement. This occurred in Nova Kakhovka.
Note that, since the Ukrainian authorities cannot officially confirm Leontiev’s death, he was tried as a living person.
