Kherson State University will change its structure. Instead of eight faculties there will be five.
This was reported by Kherson State University rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi at a rectorate meeting, according to the university’s website.
According to him, the decision is a response to the difficult conditions of the university’s work during the war, the loss of part of the student body and the limitations of the material and technical base.
“Today we are again at the point of a responsible decision. We are moving from a model of 8 faculties to 5. These are structural changes that affect everyone,” – noted Spivakovskyi.
First Vice-Rector Serhii Omelchuk reported that work is currently underway to agree on the names of the new faculties. By February 12 they plan to prepare a draft decision of the Academic Council regarding changes to the university’s structure based on the work of the optimization working group, the university’s website says.
According to a MOST source from two members of the rectorate, the faculties will be merged as follows: on the basis of two faculties — the biological-geographical faculty and the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics — one STEM faculty will be created. The Medical Faculty will be merged with the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. It will be called the Faculty of Health and Sport. The new Faculty of Education, Psychology and Social Work will include the Pedagogical Faculty and the Faculty of Psychology, History and Sociology.
Two other faculties will not be affected by the changes. The Faculty of Business and Law, as well as the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Journalism and Arts were reformed earlier.
