On February 7 in the city of Sibiu (Romania) a rapid chess tournament took place as part of the Verdon-My Continental chess festival. In the Category A tournament 70 participants competed, among them – a pupil of the Kherson Children’s and Youth Sports School of Chess and Checkers of the Kherson City Council, Maksym Tkachenko.

Based on the tournament results, Maksym Tkachenko placed second in the category for chess players with a FIDE rating up to 1600.
The athlete’s coach is Yevhen Novikov.
Earlier it was reported that Artur Bibik, a pupil of the Kherson Children’s and Youth Sports School of Chess and Checkers, took second place at an international children’s rapid chess tournament in France.
